Shrimp Pasta

I will start by saying I am not a big fan of shrimp.
In fact, I only cook shrimp for Jeff, my lovely husband.
How do I know it tastes just right you may ask....well...I can eat one or two just to taste the dish, then put them only in his plate.
He loves it every time !
One time we were at the grocery store and we were trying to pick what bag of shrimp to choose and we finally decided to get the cooked shrimp.
It looked prettier.
The raw dark grey and slimy ones....not so much.
Why choose one over the other when probably both are as good..........it depends on what you like and how you intend to cook or eat them.
It seems that shrimp cocktail is very popular and if you want to have that, then the already cooked and then frozen variety is just right for you.
On the other hand, if you plan on cooking the shrimp in a batter or is a sauce or if you want to make, let's say...shrimp pizza or calzones...then go for the raw one/ones.
Even though people tend to overcook the shrimp and make it rubbery, I am sure that can be managed.
I know I cooked the already cooked shrimp and it was NOT rubbery.
So here it is what I personally chose to do with my sea food.

Ingredients:
*1 package of Knorr pasta sides
* 10 frozen or thawed shrimp
* For the Marinara sauce:
Ingredients for the sauce:
1 can of tomatoes or 2 fresh tomatoes
1/2 onion
2 garlic cloves
salt
pepper
2 TBSP oil
1/2 carrot
2 pieces of celery if you have

Instructions:
I prepared the contents of a Knorr pasta package according to the instructions they offer ....the one you can easily fix using your microwave, plated it, then added the Shrimp.
Now here's the hard part:
- place the ingredients for marinara sauce in your food processor or blender and mix
- pour the sauce in a medium size skillet and keep it on medium-high heat and when it comes to a simmer place, place the frozen or thawed shrimp in
- simmer for 5 minutes, turning the shrimp every 30 seconds.
It's easy and it's tasty.

LODGE Cast Iron Dutch Oven

Oh boy, I am posting so much again all in one night.
It just seems that once you start typing, things come up in your mind...or my mind in this case. Since I am so good at curing / seasoning my Lodge cast iron skillet, I thought that buying a cast iron dutch oven wouldn't be a bad idea, given the possibility to choose another type of dutch oven.
I really wanted a dutch oven to be able to bake that famous no knead bread and hubby has gotten me one for my birthday.
Boy, do I LOVE my birthday !
Other than for baking bread, this type of pan is also good for a wide variety of foods, and I have tried many....already....the latest being mushroom risotto. Cooked in the oven, but started on the stove.
Love the perfect fitting lid !
For who doesn't know how to season a cast iron pan of any kind, HERE it is how.

Collage for beginners

I have wanted to learn how to make a collage for a long time, but haven't really bothered to look for instructions.
Luckily, tonight I looked for a tutorial and found a really good one !
And suitable for beginners (like me) too !
I was just playing, but as the result turned out to be a little above just satisfactory, I decided to replace the header picture.
So here it is !
I find it cute.

And here is the link for the website that offers the interactive tutorial.

Try it, have fun with it !

Dear Judith...

I am really sorry I have not posted much of anything lately. I have had so much going on and I haven't been having the right disposition either to blog. But I am back !
I wish I could make a triffle and devour it as I type, but oh,.....I cannot do that. Luckly I have lost a few pounds without too much of an effort and I think I risk of gaining the pound back.... Oh well, it's kinds fun to work against the POUNDS after all... LOL
Tonight I baked a bit and the result is called Kinder Pingui Cake........it is a replica of a chocolate blowbie type of cake with milk / whipped cream filling. It was a great hassle, but the result was well worth the effort.
I will post the recipe soon, along with more pictures.
Thanks Judith, it feels good to know I am missed.

Happy 25th Birthday to ME !

Yes, today is my birthday.
No cake this year...for some reason I didn't feel like baking a cake. Maybe it's because there aren't enough people to eat it ?
I will be having some fun though, even cakeless. LOL
Zoo tomorrow !
Movie tonight !
