Last night, in Pryor, the Christmas parade was held and we went there not only to see, but also to do a few extra things.
It lasted for close to 1.5 or 2 hours, but since all was so interesting to look at, you couldn't really notice the time passing by..
The row of people stretched for half of mile maybe.....on both sides of the street....
The temperature was at freezing level and I also believe it went even below that and everybody had frosty toes ! Go figure.
It's quite something to go see and a lot of time and effort is put into the parade organization.
The theme for decorating the floats was "Your Christmas Wish" and there were 3 categories to compete in : commercial, non-commercial and youth & business.
The winners for the 3 were Christmas out West
and The Hippopotamus Float....inspired by the song "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas"
and The FFA float.
Aren't those kids just so cute ?
There's me next to a float.
Some places had cookies and cider for 50 cents....other places gave free chocolate & marshmallow.
Here is me again, at the movie theater....where they had free popvorn for everybody.
Here's a group of Scouts.
The Prevention Program.
Santa came at the very end.
Reminds me of my youth... Grew up in a town of about 25,000 people. A real community effort to make something like that work, yet they (occasionally me, our church always had a float) made it work year after year
