Baked Mini Corn Dogs

If there is one food you can trust to taste good at a gas station, and I don't mean donuts with cute sprinkles, then go for the corn dogs ! Oh yes, hot and delicious.
I was inspired by the Food Network Magazine although I am sure there has to be somebody that made them earlier.
So I obviously had to make them at home at some point. You know, with my baking addiction and all. LOL.

So here are the ingredients:
1 cup milk
7 gr instant yeast
2 TBSP oil + more for greasing
2 TBSP sugar
1 cup corn meal
1 and 1/4 cup AP Flour + more for dusting, kneading
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
9 hot dogs, cut in half
1 egg, beaten
sesame seeds

Directions:
Mix the milk, yeast, oil, sugar and corn meal to form a paste, then add the flour, salt, baking soda and stir to form a dough.
turn out on a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes.
Shape into a ball and place in a greased bowl and let rise for 1 hour.
In the meantime make little cuts into the hot dogs and fry them with oil, salt and pepper for about 3 minutes on hot heat.
Let cool and then insert a wooden stick into each of them.
Preheat the oven to 450 F.
Lightly oil a baking sheet or line one with parchment paper/aluminum foil and set aside.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide in 18 pieces.
Roll each piece into a 10 inch rope and wrap it around each hot dog.
Make sure you tuck and press the edges to seal.
Place on the baking sheet and brush with the beaten egg.
Now sprinkle sesame and kosher salt and bake until golden brown and delicious, roughly 15 minutes !
They have considerably fewer calories than the corn dogs you have in town.
So make your own !
